Position overview & purpose
The Test Engineer will work to characterize, scale and industrialize the production chemical and materials preparation processes at Ambient Photonics’ first manufacturing facility. This Test Engineer will play a large role in qualifying first article production equipment and processes, as well as establishing process control methodologies and practices. They will demonstrate leadership during the start-up phase, working closely with our R&D group. Ongoing duties will include process optimization, reduced process variation, and cost reduction.

Essential duties & responsibilities
- Identifies and resolves issues related to product level testing at Ambient test facilities.
- Sustains and supports operations personnel engaged in production testing.
- Successfully works/interacts with different functional groups: product engineering, process engineering, quality and planning to achieve individual and team goals.
- Supports development of new test processes/systems to improve product testing efficiency.
- Participates in new technology development projects to facilitate transfer to production.
- Knowledge of complete systems, processes, & technologies related to product test, product test equipment, software for various types of test equipment, manufacturing process flow, and MES system.
Knowledge, skills & abilities
- Excellent problem resolution and analytical skills
- Proficiency in automated test system software.
- Demonstrated test software and hardware development experience.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly document processes and procedures.
- Must employ good judgment and display considerable initiative.
- Must be team-oriented and able to work with multiple organizations and vendors.
- Demonstrated expertise in DOE and SPC.
Basic qualifications & competencies
- B.S. degree in electrical engineering or physics and 4 -7 years of experience.
- A minimum of 2-3 years relevant work experience in Test Engineering.
- Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S., Ambient Photonics is not willing to provide sponsorship.
- 4+ years or related experience in any combination of the following functions: test sustaining engineering, test development engineering, optoelectronic testing.
- Industrial experience in similar position in a manufacturing environment such as PCBA, photovoltaics, IC, or hard disk.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk or working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to <50 pounds .
- Occasional prolonged periods of standing .
- <20 % Travel.
