Position overview & purpose
As a Senior Sales Engineer at Ambient Photonics, you will be a key technical advisor and trusted partner for our customers in the consumer electronics industry. You will be the technical champion, working closely with the sales team to drive revenue growth by showcasing the value and potential of our cutting-edge solar cells. You'll engage with customers at all levels, from engineers to executives, translating complex technical concepts into compelling business benefits. This role requires a deep understanding of consumer electronics product development, strong communication skills, and a passion for building relationships. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of connected devices.

Essential duties & responsibilities
  • Partner with the sales team to identify and qualify new business opportunities within the consumer electronics market.
  • Develop and deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations, and proposals that highlight the advantages of Ambient Photonics' technology.
  • Act as a technical expert throughout the sales cycle, answering customer questions, addressing concerns, and providing tailored solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at customer accounts, including engineers, product managers, and executives.
  • Conduct technical deep dives and workshops with customer engineering teams to showcase the technical capabilities of our team and products.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to provide customer feedback and influence product development roadmaps.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in the consumer electronics industry and identify emerging applications for our technology.
  • Provide on-site technical support, primarily in Asia, during critical product bring-up and production ramp phases, as needed.

Knowledge, skills & abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and trust with customers. 
  • Experience working directly with major ODMs and CMs in the consumer electronics industry is required. 
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues is a plus. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 10% of the time and domestically up to 30% of the time. 
     
Basic qualifications & competencies
  • BSEE or equivalent degree in a relevant engineering discipline. 
  • Proven track record of success in a sales engineering or technical sales role within the consumer electronics industry. 
  • Deep understanding of consumer electronics product development, particularly in areas such as power management, embedded systems, and IoT devices. 
  • Strong technical presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.   
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred qualifications & competencies
  • Experience with power management and energy harvesting technologies.
  • Familiarity with the competitive landscape in the consumer electronics market.
  • A passion for technology and a desire to be at the forefront of innovation.

Physical demands and working environment
  • Frequent use of computers and telecommunication systems. 
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds for equipment and trade show materials. 
  • Primarily indoor office environment with occasional visits to customer sites and production facilities.
